Richard Miron is a documentary director and editor based in Brooklyn, NY. He directed, edited, produced and shot the award-winning feature documentary FOR THE BIRDS, a 2019 Critics’ Choice Documentary Award nominee and New York Times Critic’s Pick. He co-edited the Emmy-nominated ANONYMOUS SISTER (IDA Shortlist 2023; dir. Jamie Boyle, prod. Marilyn Ness, Elizabeth Westrate), edited THE SURROUNDING GAME (Dir. Will Lockhart & Cole Pruitt), and co-edited the award-winning ESTHER NEWTON MADE ME GAY (Dir. Jean Carlomusto, Prod. Shanti Avirgan). He was the broadcast editor for the Emmy-nominated CHARM CITY (dir. Marilyn Ness) and COOKED: SURVIVAL BY ZIP CODE (dir. Judith Helfand), both for PBS Independent Lens. Richard began his career as an assistant editor for the Oscar-nominated feature documentary LIFE, ANIMATED (Dir. Roger Ross Williams, 2017) and the Oscar-shortlisted ART AND CRAFT (Dir. Sam Cullman, Jennifer Grausman, Co-Dir. Mark Becker, 2015). He earned his B.A. in Art from Yale University, where he won the Lamar Prize for his senior thesis film. He was selected for Sony Pictures Classics’ Marcie Bloom Fellowship in Film, and was a fellow in the 2016 Gotham/IFP Documentary Labs.
